Your Playmates: The Marcie And Me Play Program Community
Because most (90% re-enrollment rate) of our children stay in the MarcieAndMe program for all of their pre-preschool years, you will have the opportunity to become part of the MarcieAndMe community. As you grow to know your playmates, you will take enjoyment in watching other children grow as well as your own. Relationships that you establish in class will most likely last well beyond your child’s graduation. Many of our graduates go on to attend preschool with one of their MarcieAndMe playpals. This offers children a sense of security as they take their first steps towards independence.
Playscape – (Our Classroom)
Each week you and your child will arrive into a new playscape for you to explore and enjoy. Share in the magic of discovery as you watch your child learn in front of your eyes. Your time shared with us will offer you numerous opportunities to participate in unique hands-on-activities and novel learning situations alongside your child that are guaranteed to challenge her emerging skills and delight you both. By being your child’s play pal you are able to extend her play to new levels of understanding which will result in cognitive growth. Weekly themes are presented in ways that we promise will expand your imagination. You’ll paint with kitchen gadgets; shape animals out of play dough, sing with puppets and dance with stars. As you participate with your child, you’ll find that the child within you will begin to emerge. Through this process you will experience one of the great pleasures of parenting-watching your child learn and grow!
The length of our classes varies according to age.
- 8 to 12 months: 1 hour
- 13 to 17 months: 1 or 1 1/4 hours
- Over 18 months: 1 1/2 hours
HOW LUCKY WE ARE!
Sibling classes are designed for parents of more than one child under the age of five. We will enhance the uniqueness of the sibling relationship through cooperative activities and group games. Materials and activities will be designed to challenge the developmental abilities of the various ages. Learning will occur for the children through the opportunity to observe positive role models. This is a great opportunity to develop relationships with other families with children the same age as yours.
The Learning Cycle
We all come into this world as curious human beings. It is this curiosity that propels us onto the cycle of learning. Your reinforcement and shared joy about your child’s exploration will encourage him/her to participate in this cycle of learning. Our philosophy at Marcie and Me is that you are an essential part of this learning process.
At Marcie and Me, we provide the setting for this cycle of learning to happen by creating an intriguing environment for the children to explore. Your active participation is critical in this learning process. Together we all enjoy the excitement of exploring, discovering and learning together.
The following was taken from an article written by Dr. Bruce D. Perry in the April/May 2001 issue of “Parent and Child” Magazine:

We’ll add in a few surprises that are guaranteed to make him or her feel special and celebrated. Themes will parallel the weekly class themes so no two Parties will be a like. You supply the food; we’ll supply the fun!
In 1977, Marcie Williams, an American All-Around National Gymnastics Champion, retired from the sport to concentrate on her education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clark University with a degree in psychology and special education. She then continued her graduate studies in early childhood at Tufts University and Wheelock College. In 1982, Marcie combined her love for gymnastics with her training in education and opened Gymnax, a gymnastics school for children. A few years later, Marcie expanded into an adjoining space and developed a unique daycare experience called The Enrichment Center For Children. The schools grew and flourished. Marcie sold them after twelve years when her family relocated to Florida. They are still in business to this day. It was in Florida that Marcie’s passion for infant/parent “edutainment” attained its current focus. She went to work in a Mommy and Me program and fell in love with the concept. Marcie began creating new theme-based experiences each week with presentations and activities to delight the children and surprise the parents. “I love the interplay as they discover new experiences together.” Marcie returned to Massachusetts in 1997 as the single parent of two boys. Without resources to open her own school, she taught the MarcieAndMe play program out of the back of a borrowed car, traveling to home play-groups with a trunk full of puppets, toys, and music. As the opportunity was offered, Marcie then collaborated with the JCC network where she developed an immediate following. The MarcieAndMe Educational Play Program is the culmination of Marcie’s dedication to producing world-class creative play experiences for infants, toddlers, and their parents. Please join us at a MarcieAndMe Play Program as we make learning fun for everyone!
