Late Fall 2017 Classes start November 7

8-12 Months Old

Incorporating ½ hour of free play exploration and ½ hour of a dynamic circle time.

Between 8-12 months infants are sitting up and beginning to explore their world through their senses.

Free play: During Free Play babies will be given ample opportunity to explore our unique weekly theme based learning centers. This offers babies the opportunity to stimulate and challenge their emerging skills through a variety of materials.

Free play also offers moms the opportunity to socialize, ask questions, and share information. Many long lasting friendships have originated at Marcie and Me.

Circle time features Marcie and Me original music and old time favorites. All songs incorporate props fostering movement and language stimulation.

Closing Time: A consistent closing time incorporates parachute play and bubbles.

Because children at this age explore with their mouths, extra effort is taken to keep toys and materials washed before and after class.

13-17 Months Old

This class is either an hour or 1 1/4 hours. In the longer class we expand upon the hour format by adding a snack time.

Free Play: Children in this age group are on the go. Free play allows them to use their newly acquired motor skills to move about the room interacting with the variety of learning centers and developmentally appropriate materials. As children are still placing things in their mouth, art materials used are always eatable products such as yogurt or baby food.

Circle Time: During circle children are encouraged to move, dance and come get their props on their own. The pace is designed to be quick in order to accommodate their short attention span and active curiosity.

Snack Time: offers children the opportunity to practice sitting in chairs, self -help skills and table manners. While eating, they are learning to focus their attention on the teacher at the front of the class leading a variety of songs and activities. Language development is stimulated through the repetition of songs, finger plays, and listening to a theme based storybook.

Closing Time: gets those little bodies up and moving in a marching band, parachute play and bubbles. Children are offered a theme based hand stamp to remind them of their fun at Marcie and Me throughout the day.

18-24 Months Old

This class is 1 ½ hours long.  With language development and more self -control, children are capable of focusing their attention for longer periods of time.

Free Play Children of this age are capable of staying at a learning center with focused attention. They are able to complete puzzles, art projects and express themselves with their emerging language. Imagination begins to develop and children are often seen role playing in the kitchen area, taking care of babies, or fixing things at the tool bench.

Art: children are no longer exploring with their mouths so art materials include paint and glue, offering children the opportunity to make something to bring home.

Clean up becomes an activity as children gladly participate in this process. Little helpers hear the “clean up song” and instantly begin to carry toys and buckets of materials into the storage area. This transition teaches cooperation and team -work.

Circle time incorporates old favorites as well as new songs that encourage following directions, body awareness and group cooperation.

Snack time expands to include a “letter of the week” designed to build vocabulary. “Mr. weather bear” teaching children to be aware of their surroundings, and  attendance fostering self- awareness, confidence and socialization.

Drop Off Class

Our Go It Alone classes are for children ages 2 and over who are familiar and comfortable with the Marcie and Me setting. Now that both  mom and child have established a trusting relationship with our teachers, these “big Kids” are ready to venture into the world of discovery on their own. The routine will remain the same as the parent/child format so it is predictable and familiar. The drop off class provides  numerous opportunities for social growth through free play, circle songs and structured activities. Children do not need to be toilet trained but must separate freely without tears.

Sibling Class

Sibling classes are designed for parents of more than one child under the age of five. We will enhance the uniqueness of the sibling relationship through cooperative activities and group games. Materials and activities will be designed to challenge the developmental abilities of the various ages. Learning will occur for the children through the opportunity to observe positive role models. This is a great opportunity to develop relationships with other families with children the same age as yours.
